Membership in PIAC is restricted to Canadian pension funds. A key requirement of membership is the yearly submission by each pension fund of the Asset and Returns Survey.

Annual Membership dues per Member Fund are based on total reported Assets Under Management at the end of the prior year.

GST/HST is payable depending on the location of your head office.

    NEW INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION FROM AN EXISTING PENSION FUND MEMBER

    The 1,000+ member plan employees in our membership have a wide range of responsibilities for areas such as the investment direction of the funds assets; the administration of the plan or serve in related areas such as actuarial, accounting, communications, corporate governance, legal, responsible investment, risk management, tax, etc.

    Member funds may sign up as many additional employees as they wish at no charge. They are referred to as “Additional Regular” members.

    The Member fund may change who is designated as the “Regular” or “Additional Regular” member by contacting the PIAC office.



    APPLY TO BECOME A SUBSCRIBING MEMBER

    This category allows individuals who were members in PIAC but are on sabbatical, in between jobs or looking for work, to maintain their PIAC membership.  The annual membership fee is $60 per year plus applicable taxes. Subscribing members may remain in this category for a maximum of two additional years after their first year in this category.     APPLY TO BECOME A RETIRED MEMBER 

    This category allows members who are retiring to retain their PIAC membership. The annual membership fee is $60 per year plus applicable taxes. CLICK HERE to let us know your retirement date and new contact information (email, address and phone number). There are a few features PIAC retired members may with to consider:

    • Add your name to the list of members interested in serving on other organizations’ boards and committee: Looking for a Board / Committee Member. Email us and we will include you on the registry. Feel free to attach your photo and a short bio.
    • PIAC’s Mentorship Program matches seasoned pension industry professionals with those new to the sector. Let us know if you are interested.


    NEW PENSION FUND APPLICATION


    New applications from pension fund organizations must designate the employee who will have the “Primary or Regular” role. The Regular member is the person who is responsible to ensure that:

    • Annual dues are paid in a timely manner
    • The PIAC office is promptly notified of any changes to the roster of other individuals from the organization in membership
    • The list of pension plans managed by the organization is complete and accurate
    • Confidentiality provisions are respected by all individuals who are members from your organization
    • The Annual Asset and Returns Survey is completed by the deadline
    • Completion of other PIAC surveys as appropriate
